Objective To investigate the effects of childhood trauma on aggressive behavior and clinical symptoms in first untreated schizophrenia patients. Methods A total of 171 patients with first-episode schizophrenia without medication were selected to evaluate their aggressive behavior using the modified Explicit Aggressive Behavior Scale (MOAS). According to the results of MOAS, the patients were divided into the aggressive group (89 cases) and the non-aggressive group (81 cases). The Positive and Negative Symptom Scale (PANSS) was used to evaluate the clinical symptoms of the patients, The childhood trauma questionnaire (CTQ) was used to collect the trauma information of the patients. Results The total score of PANSS, positive factor, excitatory factor score, CHT total score and five subscale scores in aggressive behavior group were higher than those in non-aggressive behavior group (all P<0.05), while the scores of negative factor, depression and anxiety factor and cognitive factor were lower than those in non-aggressive behavior group (all P<0.05). Excitatory antagonism factor, emotional abuse, physical abuse and emotional neglect were closely related to aggressive behavior in PANSS (P<0.05). Conclusion Excitatory antagonism factors, emotional abuse, physical abuse and emotional neglect in PANSS contribute independently to aggressive behavior in first untreated schizophrenia patients.
