[Abstract] Objective: To explore the effect of psychotherapy intervention on anxiety and depression in patients with severe traumatic brain injury during the recovery period. Methods: A study of 90 patients with severe traumatic brain injury (July 2019 to April 2021) was included. They were randomly divided into two groups using a random number table method. 45 patients were included in the control group and received routine intervention, while 45 patients in the observation group received psychotherapy intervention on the basis of the control group. Clinical indicators such as psychological status, comorbidity rate, and coping style were statistically analyzed for the two groups. Results The complication rate in the observation group was 8.89%, lower than 26.67% in the control group (P<0.05). The Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) and Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The coping style scores recorded in the observation group were higher than those in the control group; The avoidance and yield scores were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Psychological therapy interventions have a positive effect on improving anxiety and depression symptoms in patients with severe traumatic brain injury. Through implementation, the incidence of complications can be reduced and the prognosis can be improved.
