[Abstract] Objective: to analyze the effect of rational emotional therapy on the emotional and psychological state of parents of children with NRDS (neonatal respiratory distress syndrome). Methods: the subjects of this study came from the parents of 90 children with NRDS admitted in our hospital from January 2019 to June 2021. They were divided into groups according to the random number table method (n = 45 in each group). The control group was given routine nursing intervention, and the observation group was given reasonable emotional therapy on the basis of the control group. The SAS score, SDS score, HHI score and CSQ score of the two groups were compared. Results: the SAS score and SDS score of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, the HHI score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, the scores of rationalization, help seeking and problem solving in the observation group were higher than those of the control group, and the scores of retreat, fantasy and self blame in the observation group were lower than those of the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: rational emotional therapy can effectively reduce the anxiety, depression and other adverse emotions of parents of children with NRDS, enhance the level of hope and adjust the coping style of the disease.
