Objective: To analyze the effect of montelukast sodium chewable tablets combined with azithromycin in the treatment of severe pneumonia in children. Methods: Children with severe pneumonia (n=86) admitted in our hospital from February 2020 to February 2021 were selected as the subjects of this study. Randomized number table method was used to divide into reference group (n=43) and experimental group (n=43). The former was treated with azithromycin, and the latter was treated with montelukast sodium chewable tablets combined with azithromycin. The therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Results: The effective rate of the two groups was higher in the experimental group (P<0.05). The symptom relief time and hospitalization time of the two groups were shorter than those of the experimental group. The incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups was lower in the experimental group (P<0.05). Conclusion: In the treatment of severe pneumonia in children, montelukast sodium chewable tablets combined with azithromycin has a definite effect, which can improve the treatment efficiency of children, alleviate the related symptoms of children in a short time, reduce the occurrence of adverse reactions, and then shorten the hospital stay. It is suggested that this method be popularized in clinical practice.
