Objective To analyze the effect of different length of gastric tube placement during gastrointestinal decompression in patients with clinical ileus. Methods A total of 60 patients with intestinal obstruction and gastrointestinal decompression admitted to our hospital from January 2022 to January 2023 were selected as research objects, and were divided into experimental group and control group according to the order of admission, with 30 patients in each group. In the process of decompression treatment after admission, the length of gastric tube placement in the control group was earlobe - nasal tip - xiphoid surface length, while in the experimental group, the length of gastric tube placement was further added to the hairline during treatment. The therapeutic effect of different placement lengths in the two groups was compared. Results Under different length of gastric tube placement, compared with the control group, the experimental group showed significantly better performance in treatment effect, retention time of gastric tube, drainage volume, degree of abdominal distension and other aspects, with significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion The ideal retention length for gastrointestinal decompression treatment of intestinal obstruction is earlobe - nasal tip - hairline - xiphoid body.
