Objective To explore the application value of peripheral artery blood collection in neonatal nursing. Methods A total of 108 newborns received and treated by our hospital from November 2021 to November 2022 were selected as participants in this study. They were divided into two groups based on dice playing. One group was used for femoral vein puncture as the reference group (54 cases), and the other group was used for peripheral artery blood collection as the research group (54 cases). The application effects of the two models were observed, and the relevant data were analyzed and compared. Results The success rate of neonatal puncture was 83.33% (45 cases) in the reference group and 96.30% (52 cases) in the study group. Studies comparing groups have a higher success rate. There were 29 cases of mild pain in the reference group, accounting for 53.70%, and 43 cases in the study group, accounting for 79.63%. The pain was significantly less severe in the study group. The adverse reaction rate of puncture was 14.81% (8 cases) in the reference group and only 3.70% (2 cases) in the study group. Compared between groups, the method in the study group had higher safety and lower incidence of adverse reactions. Conclusion In the nursing process of newborns, the selection of peripheral artery blood collection can promote the success rate of puncture and reduce the pain of children, so as to obtain satisfactory blood collection effect for family members.
