Objective: To investigate and analyze the work stress and physical and mental health of operating room nurses. Methods A total of 90 nurses in the operating room of the hospital from March 2021 to February 2022 were selected as the research subjects. The physical and mental health of operating room nurses was assessed using the symptom self-rating scale (SCL-90). The main work stressors of operating room nurses were investigated through the Chinese Nurses Work Stressor Scale. To analyze the correlation between different work stressors of operating room nurses and their physical and mental health. Results Using the SCL-90 survey, the operating room nurses scored more than 2 points on depression, somatization, interpersonal sensitivity and obsessive-compulsive symptoms. According to the total score of SCL-90 of nurses in each operating room, they were included in the abnormal physical and mental health group and the normal physical and mental health group. The work stressor score of the abnormal physical and mental health group was higher than that of the normal physical and mental health group (P<0.05). Operating room nurses work stressor factors were positively correlated with the total score of SCL-90, nursing work and specialty, workload and distribution, work environment and resources, patient care, management and interpersonal relationships (P<0.05). Conclusion Operating room nurses have certain physical and mental health problems, which are obviously affected by work stress. Corresponding intervention measures should be taken to improve the physical and mental health of operating room nurses according to different work stress sources.
