Objective　To explore the effect of psychological intervention on therapeutic compliance and socialfunction of elderly patients with depression. Methods　A total of 88 cases elderly patients treated in our hospital wereselected and then randomly divided into theobservation group（n=44）and the control group（n=44），the control groupwere given the routine nursing intervention，and the observation group were given the psychological intervention measureson the basis of the conventional nursing. Then comparing the scores of HAMD，SDS，SDSS and the therapeuticcompliance of the two groups before and 6 months after intervention. Results　There was no significant differences ofHAMD，SDS and SDSS scores between the two groups before intervention（P>0.05）.After intervention，the scores ofHAMD，SDS and SDSS in the two groups were both lower than those before intervention. Meanwhile after nursing intervention，the scores of HAMD，SDS and SDSS in the observation group were lower than those in the control group，allthe differences above were statistically significant（ P<0.05）. And the therapeutic compliance of the observation group（95.45％）were higher than that in the control group（77.27％），the difference above was statistically significant（P<0.05）. Conclusion　Psychological intervention on the basis of the conventional nursing can be better toimprovethe patients therapeutic compliance and social functions，it’s worthy of clinical application.
