Objective: To explore the quality of life and risk factors in patients with primary insomnia。Methods: 50 patients with primary insomnia (PI), well matched with 40 healthy controls (HC) in age, gender and education, were assessed by world health organization quality of life(WHOQOL-BREF), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI), Self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and Self-rating depression scale (SDS). The difference between groups was analyzed by independent-samples t test or χ2 test, Meanwhile, multiple linear regression analysis were performed to further assess the factors affecting the quality of life in patients with primary insomnia. Results: Compared with the healthy controls, the WHOQOL-BREF in the physical, psychological, independent, social relationships, environment domains and the overall QOL were significantly lower in the PI patients (p<0.05). Multiple linear regression analyses indicated that the depression symptom, severity of insomnia and family history were significant predictors of impairment of quality of life in PI patients. Conclusions: In PI patients, the quality of life in the physical, psychological, independent, social relationships, environment domains and the overall QOL were impaired. The severity of insomnia, family history, depressive symptoms are the important factors resulting in impairment of quality of life in PI patients.
