Since the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), a surge in the demand for stress interventions has highlighted the scarcity of psychological stress intervention professionals and effective intervention paradigms in China, posing an urgent need for safe and effective stress intervention techniques that are convenient for professional and paraprofessional personnels.Since its establishment in 2008, Simplified Reconstruction, a group intervention focusing on psychological stress, has been recognized in many major events regarding stress interventions, and has shown its effectiveness in individual counseling. In order to optimize psychological assistance in this epidemic, following the National Health and Health Commissions Guiding Principles for Intervention of Emergency Psychological Crisis of Pneumonia Epidemic of New Coronavirus Infection[1], the Simplified Reconstruction Method for individual intervention of epidemic stress was created based on the theory and practice of Simplified Reconstruction. By walking through the four steps in an intervention (problem presentation, information transmission, coping discussion, summary improvement), assisted subjects will be able to reduce confusion, stabilize mental state, restore hope, reduce symptoms, and finally regain adaptive social and psychological functioning.
