[Abstract]Objective To analyze the effect of combined treatment of intestinal probiotics and paroxetine in elderly patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with anxiety and depression. Methods 129 elderly patients with IBS with anxiety and depression in our hospital were divided into 2 groups by random number table. On the basis of interventions such as routine diet and psychological guidance, 64 patients in microecological treatment group were treated by oral bifidobacteria and live bifidobacterium capsules, The combination group was added paroxetine hydrochloride on the basis of the microecological treatment group, all were taken orally for 4 weeks, and the diarrhea, abdominal pain disappearing time, the number of intestinal microbes at the end of 4 weeks, inflammatory factors and depression, anxiety status changes and adverse reactions between the groups were compared. Results Abdominal pain and diarrhea disappeared faster in the combined group than microecological treatment group. At the end of 4 weeks, the SDS and SAS scores were lower than microecological treatment group (P<0.05), Bifidobacteria, lactobacilli and enterococci were higher than microecological treatment group (P <0.05), Bacteroides, Enterobacter, TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8 levels and adverse reactions were not significantly different between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion The treatment of elderly IBS patients with depression and anxiety combined with paroxetine hydrochloride on the basis of intestinal microecological therapy can improve depression and anxiety, and beneficial to the improvement of intestinal microbes and inflammation safety and effectively.
