Objective To study the effects of preventive maintenance and conventional maintenance models in medical equipment management. Methods A total of 200 medical equipment in use at a tertiary hospital from January 2024 to January 2025 were selected as the research subjects. The “Depending on the maintenance mode” was used to divide them into the reference group (conventional maintenance model) and the research group (preventive maintenance model), with 100 units in each group. The management effects of the two groups were compared and analyzed. Results Compared with the reference group, the equipment failure rate of the research group was lower; the average repair time and average downtime were shorter; the annual average maintenance cost per single equipment was lower; the equipment integrity rate and clinical satisfaction were higher, P < 0.05. Conclusion Preventive maintenance can reduce the failure rate and maintenance cost of medical equipment, shorten downtime, and improve equipment operation efficiency and clinical service quality.
