[Abstract] Objective: To study the effect of Olanzapine combined with sodium valproate therapy on the clinical effects and SSPI rating for schizophrenic patients with impulsive behavior. Methods: The clinical data of 126 schizophrenic patients with impulsive behavior who had recived treatment in our hospital between May 2015 arospectively analyzed, and were devided into two groups according to the different clinical treatment options given. The 46 patients given only Olanzapine for treatment were set as the control group, whereas the other 80 patients treated with Olanzapine combined with sodium valproate as the observation group. The clinical efficacy and SSPI rating in the two groups were compared. Results: After treatment, the PANSS score in the observation group were shown to be better than before treatment and that in the control group (P<0.01). The total incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups were 2.50% and 8.70%, without significant difference registered (P>0.05). The MOAS and SSPI scores were improved in both groups after treatment, and the improvement in the observation group was shown to be more significant than that in the control group significantly (P<0.01). Conclusion: For schizophrenic patients with impulsive behavior, Olanzapine combined with sodium valproate can improve their clinical symptoms and impulsive behavior, promote their social function, and reduce the incidence of adverse reactions; therefore, it is worthwhile to be put into clinical application.
