Objective To establish an evidence-based standard operating procedure (SOP) for IABP maintenance and explore its application value in complication prevention and improvement of treatment safety. Methods 72 patients treated with IABP in the cardiovascular intensive care unit of our hospital (from February 2024 to November 2025) were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method, with 36 cases in each group. The control group received the conventional IABP maintenance plan, while the observation group implemented the intervention based on the evidence-based IABP maintenance SOP. The incidence of IABP operation failures, the total incidence of complications, and the changes in hemodynamic and coagulation function indicators before and after the intervention were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence of IABP operation failures in the observation group was 4.44% and the total incidence of complications was 5.56%, which were significantly lower than 22.22% and 27.78% in the control group (P < 0.05). After 72 hours of intervention, the mean arterial pressure (76.34 ± 5.21) mmHg and cardiac output (4.89 ± 0.63) L/min in the observation group were better than those in the control group, and the fluctuation of coagulation function indicators was more stable (P < 0.05). Conclusion The evidence-based IABP maintenance SOP can effectively reduce equipment operation failures and complication risks, optimize the hemodynamic state of patients, improve the safety and clinical efficacy of IABP treatment, and has clinical promotion value.
