Objective To evaluate the effect of modified Guizhi Jia Houpo Xingzi Decoction combined with Zhisou San in the treatment of post-infectious cough in children. Methods Sixty children with post-infectious cough who received drug treatment in our hospital from December 2024 to December 2025 were selected as the research subjects. They were randomly divided into the control group and the experimental group by lottery, with n = 30 in each group. The control group was treated with ambroxol hydrochloride oral solution, while the experimental group was treated with modified Guizhi Jia Houpo Xingzi Decoction combined with Zhisou San on the basis of the control group. The therapeutic effects were compared and analyzed. Results Before treatment, there was no significant difference. After treatment, the daytime and nighttime cough scores of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group, the TCM syndrome scores of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group, and the serum inflammatory factor levels of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group, P < 0.05. Conclusion The treatment of post-infectious cough in children with modified Guizhi Jia Houpo Xingzi Decoction combined with Zhisou San can alleviate the symptoms of the disease, relieve TCM syndromes, and reduce the inflammatory level of the body. It is a safe and effective drug treatment plan in clinical practice.
