Objective To explore the effect of Mahuang Shigeng Decoction in treating the pulmonary heat type of community-acquired pneumonia. Methods Using computer random double-blind method, 64 patients with pulmonary heat type of community-acquired pneumonia admitted to our hospital from March 2024 to December 2025 were evenly divided into 2 groups: the experimental group received Mahuang Shigeng Decoction, and the control group received conventional treatment. The indicators such as cough relief time were compared. Results Regarding expectoration, cough relief time and fever reduction time: the experimental group (3.42 ± 0.75) days, (3.67 ± 0.85) days, (1.42 ± 0.37) days, and the control group (5.94 ± 1.02) days, (6.34 ± 1.41) days, (2.68 ± 0.53) days, the differences were significant (P < 0.05). SF-36 score: after treatment, the experimental group (90.04 ± 3.73) points, the control group (83.35 ± 4.06) points, the difference was significant (P < 0.05). Total effective rate: the experimental group 96.88%, the control group 78.12%, P < 0.05. Adverse reactions: the experimental group 3.12%, the control group 6.25%, the difference was not significant (P > 0.05). Conclusion For patients with pulmonary heat type of community-acquired pneumonia, Mahuang Shigeng Decoction is safe, reliable, has significant efficacy, and the symptoms of patients are relieved faster, and the prognosis is better.
