[Abstract] Objective To investigate the impacts of psychological care on postoperative cognitive dysfunction, psychological state and nursing satisfaction of elderly surgical patients. Methods 80 cases of elderly surgical patients who were treated in our hospital from May 2014 to May 2016 were selected, these patients were divided into psychological care group (n = 40) and usual care group (n = 40) two group according to the random number table, the postoperative cognitive dysfunction, psychological status and satisfaction with care of the two groups were statistically analyzed. Results The incidence of postoperative cognitive dysfunction of the psychological care group 17.5% (7/40) was significantly lower than the usual care group 42.5% (17/40) (P <0.05), the somatization, anxiety, fear scores in SCL-90 scale of the nursing intervention group were significantly lower (P<0.05), the depression score was significantly higher (P<0.05), the complication rate 5.0% (2/40) was significantly lower than the usual care group 17.5% (7/40 ) (P <0.05), the care satisfaction 95.0% (38/40) was significantly higher than the usual care group 70.0% (28/40) (P <0.05). Conclusion psychological care can effectively reduce postoperative cognitive dysfunction, improve psychological state and satisfaction with care of elderly surgical patients.
