[Abstract] Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of Shenqi Maiwei Dihuang Decoction combined with Western medicine in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Methods A total of 68 T2DM patients with MCI admitted to our hospital from March 2022 to December 2024 were selected and randomly divided into two groups using a random number table. The control group (n=34) received conventional metformin treatment, while the observation group (n=34) received additional Shenqi Maiwei Dihuang Decoction. Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), pancreatic islet function, oxidative stress markers, and cognitive function were assessed before and after three months of treatment. Results The observation group showed significantly better improvements in HbA1c, islet function, oxidative stress markers, and cognitive function compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Shenqi Maiwei Dihuang Decoction combined with Western medicine demonstrates favorable therapeutic effects in T2DM patients with MCI, improving glycemic control, islet function, and oxidative stress while also exerting a protective effect on cognitive function.
