[Abstract] Objective To investigate the effects of aerobic exercise on psychiatric symptoms and glycolipid metabolism in stable patients with schizophrenia (SZ). Methods A total of 116 male patients with stable SZ were selected from November 2020 to November 2021 and randomly grouped using a numerical table. Both groups were treated with antipsychotic drugs, the control group was given general exercise intervention, and the observation group was given aerobic exercise on the basis of the control group, and the intervention time was 6 months. SZ-related psychiatric symptoms as well as blood glucose and lipid levels were compared before and after the intervention. Results The SZ psychiatric symptom scores decreased significantly in both groups after the intervention, and the negative symptoms were lower in the observation group than in the control group after treatment (P<0.05). The difference in other symptom scores was not statistically significant (P>0.05). There was no significant improvement in fasting, postprandial 2h blood glucose, triglyceride and total cholesterol in the control group after intervention (P>0.05). All of them were lower in the observation group after the intervention than before the intervention and lower than in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Aerobic exercise can further alleviate negative symptoms and reduce blood glucose and lipid levels in patients with stable SZ.
