[Abstract] Objective To explore the impact of self role identity training on the mental and behavioral well-being of patients with schizophrenia. Methods Eighty-five patients with schizophrenia from September 2021 to April 2024 were selected. They were randomly divided into two groups using the numbering grouping method. The control group received antipsychotic medication treatment, while the observation group underwent self role identification training on the basis of medication treatment. The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and Cohen Mansfield Agitation Inventory (CMAI) before and after treatment were compared. Results After treatment, the negative, positive, and psychopathological scores of both groups were significantly reduced compared to before treatment, but the observation group had significantly lower scores in all three aspects compared to the control group after treatment (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of verbal agitation behavior and physical (non) aggression behavior in both groups were significantly reduced compared to before treatment, but the scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group after treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion Self role identity training for patients with schizophrenia can promote the improvement of their mental symptoms and reduce impulsive behavior.
