[Abstract] Objective To explore effects of midwives intervention on birth process and cesarean section rate in advanced age parturient women. Methods 90 advanced age parturient women which delivered in department of obstetrics and gynecology in our hospital from March 2015 to March 2016 were selected as the research objects by simple random sampling, they were divided into the intervention group(n=45)and the control group randomly(n=45), the control group was given routine nursing, the observation group was given midwives nursing intervention. Time of every birth process, total time of birth process in the two groups were recorded and compared, delivery outcomes in the two groups (natural labor and cesarean section rate) were compared, blood loss 2h after delivery and neonatus 1min Apgar scores in the two groups were recorded, delivery women overall satisfaction of nursing intervention in the two groups were compared. Results Time of the first, second, third birth process and total time of birth process in the observation group were (385.65±45.55)min, (43.30±21.15)min, (12.39±3.16)min, (441.10±30.14)min, which were significantly shorter than the control group (P<0.05); cesarean section rate of the observation group 31.11% was significantly lower than the control group (46.67%) (P<0.05), 28.57% delivery women in the observation group required cesarean section, which was significantly lower than the control group (61.90%) (P<0.05); blood loss 2h after delivery in the observation group (159.59±40.49)ml was significantly lower than the control group (P<0.05), neonatus Apgar scores (8.40±2.78)scores, satisfaction scores (8.42±1.00)scores were significantly higher than the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion Compared with routine nursing intervention, midwives intervention in the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum period is more targeted for advanced age parturient women, is beneficial to shorten birth process of advanced age parturient women, reduce cesarean section rate, gain higher degree of satisfaction in delivery women, has a positive influence to pregnancy outcomes of advanced age parturient women and newborn health.
