The Marxism view of labor, which centers on the free and comprehensive development of individuals, emphasizes that labor is not merely a means of livelihood but also a key to realizing human essential power and social value. In the process of Chinese modernization, the forms, relations, and value of labor have undergone profound transformations, providing a new practical logic for the all-round development of individuals. Based on the theoretical framework of the Marxism view of labor, this paper explores how Chinese modernization promotes the formation and liberation of laborers’ subjectivity through institutional innovation, technological innovation, and cultural innovation. First, the socialism market economy system has reformed the distribution system through public ownership of the means of production, providing workers with equitable development opportunities and a share in the fruits of labor. Second, the deep integration of digital technology and intelligent manufacturing is reshaping the labor process while creating new skill demands and career development pathways. Finally, socialism labor culture, centered on the craftsman spirit and labor happiness, effectively reconciles the contradiction between instrumental rationality and value rationality. Through the positive interaction between labor and development, Chinese modernization has constructed a people-oriented Chinese path distinct from the Western capital-dominated model, offering a practical example for the contemporary development of the Marxism view of labor.
