Abstract Objective To compare and analyze the clinical effect and safety between sertraline and paroxetine in the first onset of depression. Methods 94 cases of patients with first episode depression admitted to psychiatric out-patient department were included in this study from Agu.,2014 to Agu., 2016. According to the digital table method ,all patients were divided into A group and B group,47 cases in each.The patients in the A group were treated with sertraline, while the patients in the B group received paroxetine.The clinical effect and safety were observed and compared between the two groups. Results The scores of depression, anxiety and cognitive function of patients in the two groups were improved to a great extent after treatment (P＜0.05).Application of sertraline and paroxetine for patients has few side effects,and blood pressure, heart rate and other biochemical indicators are in the normal range.Medication is very safe. Conlusion Both of sertraline and paroxetine in the treatment of patients with first episode depression can effectively improve the bad psychological state of depression and anxiety and promote the recovery of patients with cognitive impairment at the same time,with low incidence of adverse effects, no effect on normal cardiovascular function and high security.
