Culture-loaded words are not only important carriers for understanding and disseminating culture but also crucial bridges for cross-cultural communication and interaction. Their English translation plays a vital role in the dissemination and promotion of Chinese culture. From the perspective of eco-translatology, this paper conducts an in-depth analysis of the translation methods of culture-loaded words in Michael Berry’s English version of To Live. It reveals how Michael Berry, on the premise of fully considering the balance and harmony of the cultural ecosystem, adapts to and selects appropriate translation strategies to maximize the preservation of the cultural connotations of the original text while conforming to the reading habits of target language readers.
