Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effect of solution focused approach on negative emotion and somatic symptom of patients with severe asthma. Methods: A total of 114 patients with severe asthma were randomly divided into Observation Group and Control Group, with 57 cases in each group. Patients in Control Group were performed general nursing, specific nursing, health education and other routine nursing interventions, based on these, patients in Observation Group were also performed solution focused approach. After 6 months of follow-up visit, negative emotion and improvement of somatic symptom of the two groups were compared. Results: After 6 months of follow-up visit, reduction values of scores of self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) and self-rating depression scale(SDS) in Observation Group were significantly higher than in Control Group(P<0.01); the effective rate of improvement of somatic symptoms was 92.54%, which was significantly higher than 79.10% in Control Group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Solution focused approach is conductive to relieving the negative emotion of patients with severe asthma and improving somatic symptoms, hence, it’s an effective psychological intervention model.
