Objective To analyze the current status of the development of traditional Chinese medicine from a clinical perspective and provide a reference for promoting the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine. Methods The literature review method was used to analyze the current status of the development of traditional Chinese medicine in terms of time, place, and people. Results Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the development of traditional Chinese medicine has ushered in good opportunities, but it also faces many difficulties such as insufficient supply of Chinese medicinal materials, shrinking Chinese medicine preparations, scarcity of special medicines for special diseases, uneven Chinese medicine teams, lack of standardized management of the Chinese medicine industry, and urgent need to improve the popularization of Chinese medicine culture. Conclusion The development of traditional Chinese medicine is a systematic project with broad prospects, but there are also some difficulties. It needs to be treated correctly, analyzed objectively, and comprehensive measures are taken to promote the normal inheritance and healthy development of traditional Chinese medicine.
