Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship between rumination and anxiety, depression in patients with advanced breast cancer. Methods From January 2015 to December 2016, we prospectively collected 120 cases patients with advanced breast cancer as an observation group, and collected 50 healthy females as a control group. The invasion and the purpose of meditation rumination level, self-rating anxiety and depression were observed. Results When compared with the control group, the observation group got elevated levels of invasive rumination, self-rating anxiety score and self-rating depression score, while decreased levels of purpose of meditation rumination level and health related quality of life (SF-36). The invasive rumination was positively associated with the self-rating anxiety and depression score (r=0.208 and 0.268, P<0.05), while negatively associated with the health related quality of life (SF-36) (r=-0.234, P=0.010). Moreover, The purpose of meditation rumination level was negatively associated with the self-rating anxiety (r=-0.225, P=0.013). Conclusion Patients with advanced breast cancer have a higher level of invasive rumination and a lower level of purpose of meditation rumination, which are related to anxiety and depression. Moreover, it might contribute to a lower health related quality of life.
