Objective This study aims to explore the impact of the progressive rehabilitation nursing model on the postoperative rehabilitation process of patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF). Methods Thirty patients with OVCF who underwent surgery in our hospital from January 2024 to November 2025 were selected for the study and randomly divided into a control group of 15 cases and an observation group of 15 cases. The control group received routine care, while the observation group adopted progressive rehabilitation care on this basis. The incidence of postoperative complications was compared between the two groups, as well as the total score of the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), the anterior height of the injured vertebrae and the score of the GQOLI-74 Quality of Life Questionnaire before and after nursing. Results The incidence of complications in the control group after nursing intervention was significantly higher than that in the observation group, P < 0.05; The total ODI scores of the two groups of patients showed a downward trend, while the anterior height of the injured vertebrae and the GQOLI-74 score both increased. Moreover, the improvement range of the above indicators in the observation group was better than that in the conventional group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Progressive rehabilitation nursing can reduce postoperative complications in patients with OVCF, promote the recovery of vertebral function, and improve the quality of life.
