[Abstract] Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of combined traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of elderly stroke patients with mental disorders. Methods The clinical data of 80 cases of elderly stroke patients with mental disorders in our hospital from April 2015 to April 2017 were statistically analyzed, these patients were divided into combination of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine group (n=40) and Western medicine alone treatment group (n=40) two groups according to the treatment methods, mental symptoms, the CNS scores, HDS-R scores, MMSE scores, Bathel indexes, clinical efficacy of the two groups were statistically analyzed. Results The irritability, nervousness, irritability, thought disorder, attention deficit disorder, sleep disorder ratios of the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment group were significantly lower (P<0.05), the CNS score was significantly lower (P<0.05), the HDS-R score, MMSE score and Bathel index were significantly higher (P<0.05), the total treatment efficiency 95.0% (38/40) was significantly higher than the Western medicine alone treatment group 72.5% (29/40) (P<0.05). Conclusion The clinical efficacy of combination of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine in the treatment of elderly stroke patients with mental disorders is better than Western medicine alone treatment.
