【Abstract】 Objective To investigate the efficacy and neurological function protection of low-dose Topiramate combined with Compound Amino Acid and Vitamin E capsules in treatment of pediatric epilepsy with partial seizures (PS). Methods A total of 120 pediatric epilepsy with PS were randomly divided into two groups: the control group (n=60) treated with low-dose Topiramate, the observation group (n=60) treated with Compound Amino Acid and Vitamin E capsules on the basis of control group for 12 weeks. The levels of serum S100β protein, NSE and IL-2 were measured before and after treatment, and the sympathetic skin reaction (SSR) was determined. Results The total effective rate and ECG remission rate of the observation group were 95.00% and 85.00% respectively, significantly higher than 83.33% and 71.67% of the control group (P<0.05); After treatment,the frequency and time of seizures, serum levels of S100β, NSE and IL-2 in observation group was significantly lower than the control group (P<0.05);The latency of SSR in the observation group was significantly shorter than that in the control group, while the amplitude was significantly increased (P<0.05). Conclusion Low-dose Topiramate combined with Compound Amino Acid and Vitamin E capsules in treatment of pediatric epilepsy with PS can effectively control seizures, improve EEG and protect neurological function.
