Schizophrenia is a group of unknown causes of major mental disorders, its occurrence and development is related to multiple factors. Smoking is one of the most important public health problems in the world, and the smoking behavior of schizophrenicpatients is higher than that of the general population. This paper reviews the effects of smoking on the etiology, symptoms and prognosis of schizophrenia, and briefly reviews thegeneral research status. In the future studies, we can deeply discuss the smoking cessationand preventive measures for schizophrenic patients.
