Objective To study the effect of aripiprazole on serum neurotrophic factor and lipid metabolism in elderly schizophrenic patients with negative symptoms. Methods Eighty cases of geriatric schizophrenia in our hospital were divided into observation group and control group by random number table method, 40 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with aripiprazole and the control group with olanzapine. The differences of PANSS between the two groups after treatment were compared. The changes of NGF, NT3, BDNF, TG, TC, hdl-c and ldl-c before and after treatment in the two groups were compared. In addition, the adverse reactions of the two groups were observed. Results There was no significant difference in the scores of positive symptoms, negative symptoms, psychopathology and total scores between the two groups after treatment (P > 0.05).After treatment, the levels of NGF, NT3 and BDNF in the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment (P < 0.05).After treatment, the levels of TG, TC, HDL-C and LDL-C in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05).There were no obvious adverse reactions and no abnormalities in liver, kidney and kidney function tests in both groups. Conclusion Both olanzapine and aripiprazole can improve NGF, NT3 and BDNF levels in elderly patients with negative symptoms of schizophrenia, and the clinical effect is satisfactory, but aripiprazole does not affect the blood lipid metabolism of patients, and can prevent weight gain after medication.
