Objective To investigate the treatment status of patients with depressive disorder complicated with mood stabilizer (MS) in our hospital, and to explore the influencing factors of patients with depressive disorder complicated with MS in drug treatment through comparative analysis of their clinical characteristics. Methods The clinical data of 145 patients with depressive disorder hospitalized in Shandong Mental Health Center from January to December 2016 were retrospectively analyzed, and the demographic data and disease characteristics of patients with depression treated with or without MS were compared. Results The proportion of patients treated with MS was 55.9% (81/145), and the proportion of patients treated with traditional mood stabilizers (valproate/lithium) was 33.1%(48/145).Compared with the non-combined MS treatment group, female in the combined MS treatment group were more common (67.9%vs.50%, 2=4.774, P<0.05), had more inducements (75.3% vs. 57.8%,2=4.996, P<0.05), more accompanied by positive family history(40.8% VS. 23.4%,2=3.574,P<0.05),more associated with anxiety characteristics (49.4% vs. 32.8%,2=4.028, P<0.05), and less associated with psychotic symptoms (81.5%vs.46.9%,2=19.137, P<0.01).Multiple regression analysis showed that positive family history (OR =2.765, 95%CI: 1.186~6.445, P <0.05) and no psychotic symptoms (OR =5.124, 95%CI: 2.266~11.584, P <0.01) were the influencing factors of combined MS treatment. Conclusion Patients with depression with a positive family history and no psychotic symptoms were more likely to be treated with a mood stabilizer combination.
