Objective To study the effects of somatosensory games on cognitive function and life skills in school-age children with autism. Methods A total of 300 school-age children in our hospital with autism from December 2015 to December 2018 were selected as the study subjects, and they were randomly divided into the control group and the study group of 150 cases each. The control group received conventional treatment, and the research group received somatosensory game treatment based on the control group. The childrens autism rating scale (CARS), autism child development assessment scale, and life skills were compared. Results The CARS score in the control group was significantly higher than that in the study group after treatment, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.001). The scores of perception, fine movement, language and communication, cognitive function, self-care, emotion and behavior of the control group after treatment were significantly lower than those of the study group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in coarse movement and social interaction scores between the two groups after treatment (P>0.05). The total score of life skills after treatment in the control group was significantly lower than that in the study group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Somatosensory games for school-age children with autism can significantly improve cognitive function and life skills.
