Objective: To study and analyze the clinical efficacy of paroxetine in the treatment of type 2 diabetic patients with depression. Methods: from December 2018 to December 2019, our hospital included 98 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus accompanied with depression as the main body of the study. According to the computer random grouping method, the control study was carried out, one group was named as the routine group and received routine treatment, the other group was named as the study group and received paroxetine on the basis of routine treatment. 49 cases in each group. Results: the clinical effect of the study group was higher than that of the routine group (P < 0.05); the fasting blood glucose, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, triacylglycerol and total cholesterol of the study group were lower than those of the routine group (P < 0.05); the SAS and SDS scores of the study group were lower than those of the routine group (P < 0.05); the serum cortisol level of the study group was lower than that of the routine group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus accompanied with depression, paroxetine can not only improve blood glucose and blood lipid, reduce their negative emotions, but also reduce the level of serum cortisol. The clinical effect is outstanding, which deserves clinical attention.
