Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupoint injection therapy for non-obstructive intestinal gas-related abdominal distension in the emergency department. Methods A total of 60 patients with non-obstructive intestinal gas-related abdominal distension admitted to our hospitals emergency department in 2023 were selected and randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group, each with 30 cases. The control group received routine enema and gastrointestinal motility-related treatments, while the treatment group, in addition to the above treatments, underwent acupoint injection therapy. The differences in efficacy rates, time to first flatulence, bowel movement time, and VAS score between the two groups were observed. Results The total effective rate in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05), the time to first flatulence and bowel movement was shorter than in the control group, and the improvement in VAS score was better than in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Acupoint injection therapy for non-obstructive intestinal gas-related abdominal distension in the emergency department can shorten the time to first flatulence and bowel movement, alleviate pain, and improve therapeutic effects.
