In the digital age, online literature has witnessed vigorous development and its influence at home and abroad has been increasing day by day. The translation of online novels is of great significance for cross-cultural communication. Taking the online novel “ The Second Attempt at Being an Idol” as an example, this paper compares the translation version generated by GPT-4o with the translation version with the highest click-through rate on the WUXIAWORLD website, and analyzes the differences between the two translations in terms of vocabulary and terminology, structural grammar, and cultural adaptability. Although computer-aided translation improves efficiency, there are problems such as inaccurate translation of vocabulary and terminology, disordered sentence structures, and poor cultural adaptability. Translators should give play to their subjective initiative on this basis and use appropriate techniques and strategies to improve the quality of translations, so as to promote the overseas dissemination of Chinese online literature and showcase the charm of Chinese culture.
