With the deepening of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, and the demand of domestic readers to absorb excellent cultures from different regions, many modern and contemporary English literary works have entered the Chinese market through translation. However, there are significant differences in the acceptance and reader experience of these translated works, especially in the shaping of literary style. Many translations fail to fully reproduce the style of the original works due to various factors, which affects the reading experience of readers and may even lead to cultural barriers and misunderstandings, thus hindering the smooth exchange of Chinese and foreign cultures to a certain extent. This paper aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the novel White Fang by American writer Jack London and its two Chinese translations, Wu Gangs translation and Liu Shicongs translation. The study adopts the method of literary stylistics, focusing on the degree of fit between the two translations and the original style at the vocabulary, syntax and rhetoric levels. The results show that different understandings of the style of the original text are one of the important reasons for the uneven quality of translated works. This finding provides a valuable reference for improving translation quality and promoting cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.
