Ancient Chinese is a foundational and instrumental course for students majoring in Chinese language and literature. It not only fosters students ability to read classical texts but also assumes the critical mission of preserving and promoting excellent traditional Chinese culture, playing a pivotal role in contemporary education. The relationship between Chinese modernization and the teaching of ancient Chinese reflects both the clash and integration of tradition and modernity. The clash is primarily evident in the teaching content, style, and vocabulary usage. Integration is prominently manifested in the alignment of teaching objectives, content, and methodologies. From the perspective of Chinese modernization, the reform path for teaching ancient Chinese includes: updating teaching goals with a student-centered approach; optimizing teaching content by incorporating theories of Chinese modernization; enriching teaching methods and resources to enhance students language application skills.
