The treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion in Western medicine mainly consists of conservative treatment and surgical treatment. Ultrasound drug penetration therapy is a physical therapy method within conservative treatment. Its principle is to add drugs to the contact agent and use ultrasound to generate thermal and cavitation effects to change the permeability of the cell membrane and relieve pain [1-2]. In traditional Chinese medicine, lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion is believed to be caused by liver and kidney deficiency, insufficient qi and blood, trauma, and overwork, leading to lumbar arthralgia. The treatment principle should be to unblock the meridians and dispel wind and evil. Chinese herbal ointment massage is a characteristic traditional Chinese medical treatment method that combines topical medication and massage techniques [3]. This article now analyzes the nursing process of a patient with lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion who received Chinese herbal ointment massage combined with ultrasound drug penetration therapy.
