Objective To explore the effect of bundle nursing+3M transparent dressing on unplanned extubation in newborns with indwelling gastric tubes. Methods A total of 110 newborns with indwelling gastric tubes in our hospital were included in a randomized controlled trial (period from April 2023 to April 2024). Among them, 55 newborns who received routine care were included in the control group, and the other 55 newborns who received bundled care+3M transparent dressing were included in the observation group. Evaluate the intervention effect of two groups based on the duration of gastric tube retention, unplanned extubation rate, and complications. Results The observation group showed an increase in the duration of gastric tube retention compared to the control group, while the unplanned extubation rate decreased compared to the control group (P<0.05). The total incidence of complications in the observation group decreased compared to the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Adopting bundled care and 3M transparent dressing for newborns with indwelling gastric tubes can help prolong the duration of tube placement, reduce unplanned extubation rates, and minimize complications.
