Abstract: Objective: To explore the improvement effect of surgery combined with psychological intervention on negative emotions and sleep quality in elderly emergency patients with intertrochanteric fractures of the femur. Method: From April 2022 to April 2023, a study was conducted on 80 emergency elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures of the femur. The study was standardized based on a random number table method and divided into a control group (receiving surgical treatment) and an observation group (receiving surgical treatment combined with psychological intervention), with 40 patients in each group; Observe and compare the negative emotions, sleep quality, and quality of life between the two groups. Result: After intervention, the scores of the Self Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self Rating Depression Scale (SDS) in both groups decreased to varying degrees, and the observed group showed a greater decrease than the control group (P<0.05); After intervention, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores of both groups were significantly reduced, and the observation group had significantly lower PSQI scores than the control group (P<0.05); After intervention, the quality of life score of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Surgical combined psychological intervention is beneficial for maintaining good psychological state and sleep quality, meeting patient needs, improving nursing satisfaction, and significantly improving their quality of life for elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures in emergency department.
