Abstract Objective: To investigate the effect of paroxetine on anxiety and depression and the level of monoamine neurotransmitter in patients with mild to moderate rosacea complicated with depression. Methods: A total of 90 patients with mild to moderate rosacea combined with depression admitted to our hospital from January 2020 to January 2022 were selected as the study objects, and grouped by random number table method. 45 cases in the basic group were given conventional treatment, and 45 cases in the experimental group were treated with paroxetine hydrochloride. The clinical efficacy, anxiety and depression, monoamine neurotransmitter level and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of the two groups was compared (P>0.05). The scores of self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) in the experimental group were lower than those in the basic group (P<0.05). The levels of serotonin (5-HT), dopamine (DA) and norepinephrine (NE) in experimental group were higher than those in basic group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was compared between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: Paroxetine combined with conventional treatment for mild to moderate rosacea patients with depression is effective, can effectively reduce anxiety and depression, improve the level of monoamine neurotransmitter, and has high safety.
