[Abstract] Objective To explore the relationship between somatic functional status, negative emotions and fear of falling in patients with hypertensive nephropathy. Methods A total of 107 patients with hypertensive nephropathy from January 2021 to December 2022 in Chengde Central Hospital were the subjects of this study. The fear of falling was assessed using the Activity Balance Confidence (ABC) and was divided into a fear group and a no-fear group according to the assessment results. The general data as well as the somatic function part of the 36-item brief scale (SF-36-PF), Lovetts 6-grade muscle strength classification, anxiety and depression self-rating scales (SAS, SDS) were compared between the two groups. Multifactor analysis was also performed. Results 107 patients with hypertensive nephropathy 36 patients had fear of falling. The differences in age, disease duration, SF-36-PF score, Lovett classification, and SDS score between the fear group and the no-fear group were statistically significant (P<0.05). The differences in gender, marriage, and years of education between the two groups were not statistically significant (P>0.05). SF-36-PF score, Lovett classification grade II, SAS score, SDS score, and disease duration were factors influencing the fear of falling in patients with hypertensive nephropathy. Conclusion The incidence of fear of falling is high in patients with hypertensive nephropathy and is closely related to poor somatic functional status, negative emotions, and the course of the disease.
