[Abstract] Objective: To investigate the effect and safety of Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) combined with Liuwei Dihuang pill on symptom improvement in patients with schizophrenia. Methods: From January 2021 to August 2022, 104 patients with schizophrenia were randomly selected to receive treatment in our hospital and divided into observation group and control group by random number table method, with 52 patients in both groups. The control group was treated with Liuwei Dihuang Pill as an adjuvant, and the observation group was combined with tDCS on the basis of the control group, and the relevant parameters were compared. Results: After treatment, the scores of positive and negative symptom scale (PANSS) and serum GFAP level in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the serum concentrations of nerve growth factor (NGF) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) were higher than those in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the serum concentrations of fasting blood glucose (FBG), total cholesterol (TC) and triglyceride (TG) and the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: The treatment of schizophrenic patients with tDCS combined with Liuwei Dihuang pills can effectively improve their clinical symptoms and reduce brain damage, and it has certain safety.
