Prospective function is the ability of simulating future scenarios, which plays an important role in guaranteeing normal function and maintaining mental health.Studies have found that patients with mental illness have different prospective functions from normal people, showing impaired ability to simulate the future, and playing a role in causing and maintaining disease.Many researchers have focused in recent years in this field.This review summarizes the progress of prospective functional disorders in major depression disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder and anxiety disorder, and proposes possible future research directions to inform the evaluation of symptoms, improvement and treatment of mental illness.
