Abstract
[Abstract] Objective To explore the factors influencing non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) in depressed adolescents. Methods Eighty-four adolescent patients with depression from July 2020 to June 2023 were included.Occurrence of NSSI was investigated.Gender, age, and experience of abuse were investigated and compared between the NSSI group and the non-NSSI group.Factors influencing NSSI were investigated by logistic regression analysis. Results Of the 84 adolescent depressed patients, 35 had NSSI experience, including 25 cuts, 6 impact injuries, and 4 others. The differences between the NSSI and non-NSSI groups in age, gender, depression level, abuse experience, social support, negative life events, and internet addiction were statistically significant (P<0.05). Differences in history of school breaks, single-parent family, primary caregiver, and only child were not statistically significant (P>0.05). Multifactorial analysis showed that severe depression, abuse experience, low social support, negative life events, and internet addiction were influential factors for NSSI. Conclusion Adolescents with depression have a higher proportion of NSSI experiences, and severe depression and abuse experiences may increase the risk of NSSI.
