Objective To investigate the analgesic effect of external application of moist burn ointment combined with compound betamethasone in the treatment of herpes zoster patients. Methods 74 patients with herpes zoster admitted to our hospital from January 1, 2019 to September 30, 2024 were randomly divided into a control group (treated with compound betamethasone) and an observation group (treated with moist burn ointment), with 37 cases in each group, according to a random number table method. The treatment effects of the two groups were compared. Results There was no statistically significant difference in VAS visual analog pain scores between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05). After treatment, the observation group had lower scores than the control group, and the pain disappearance time was shorter than that of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05).. Comparing the adverse reactions of the two treatment groups, the observation group had a lower incidence than the control group, but the difference between the groups was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Conclusion The clinical use of compound betamethasone for the treatment of herpes zoster combined with external application of moist burn ointment can alleviate patients pain, accelerate recovery, and have high medication safety.
