Objective To study the effect of telephone return visit on self-care ability of patients with rectal cancer after colostomy. Methods From January 2021 to January 2024, 40 patients with rectal cancer after colostomy in our hospital were randomly selected as investigation objects, and were included into two groups according to the two-color sphere method, namely the comparison group (n=20, routine discharge guidance) and the observation group (n=20, telephone return visit). The nursing effect of the two groups was compared. Results Compared with the control group, the self-management knowledge, skills and sense of responsibility were significantly stronger in the observation group (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the physiological, psychological and social functions of the observation group after nursing were significantly stronger, and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion Receiving telephone return visit in patients with rectal cancer colostomy at home after operation can strengthen patients understanding of disease nursing, enhance their self-management skills and sense of responsibility. Improving self-management behavior, forming healthy living habits, improving life quality, clinical promotion value is high.
