[Abstract] Objective To investigate the occurrence and influencing factors of dental phobia in adolescents before prosthodontic surgery. Methods A total of 144 adolescent patients with prosthodontics from January 2019 to January 2022 were selected as the research subjects. The childrens fear survey-dental subscale (CFSS-DS) was used to investigate the preoperative dental fear, and according to the survey results, they were divided into a fear group and a control group. The general data such as age, gender, pain symptoms and oral health attitude of the two groups were investigated. Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to investigate the influencing factors of dental fear in adolescents before prosthodontic surgery. Results Among 144 adolescent prosthodontics patients, 46 patients with dental fear were detected, with an incidence rate of 31.94%. There were significant differences in gender, pain symptoms, unpleasant dental visit history, oral health attitude, trait anxiety, and number of teeth between the phobia group and the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the parents highest education, residence and age between the two groups (P>0.05). Logistic regression analysis (Logistic) regression analysis showed that female gender, pain symptoms, unpleasant dental visit history, poor oral health attitude, and high trait anxiety were the influencing factors of dental fear before prosthodontic surgery in adolescents. Conclusion The incidence of dental phobia in adolescents before prosthodontic surgery is high, and the influencing factors include gender, pain, etc., and targeted health education or psychological intervention should be carried out according to the relevant influencing factors.
